According to new allegations from a informant, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request are unclear, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for her and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks allegedly granted to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
